 Nancy Tessman

Nancy Tessman has served as the Director of the Salt Lake City Public Library System since 1996 and has been with the Library System since 1976. She has been active in local and national advocacy and legislative support for public libraries.
Ms. Tessman received the 2003 Utah Library Association Librarian of the Year Award and the 1996 ULA Distinguished Service Award for her contributions and dedication to libraries. Ms. Tessman is also the recipient of many local awards, including the 2002 AIA Utah Client Achievement Award, the 2003 American Association of University Women of Utah
Distinguished Woman Award, the 2003 Utah Women’s Alliance Community Building Award, and the 2003 Friend of the Humanities Award. She received the 2005 Salt Lake City Mayor’s Award in the Humanities in recognition of her work in making the City Library a center for community gathering, free expression, and civic dialogue.
Ms. Tessman has been awarded the 2006 Renaissance Woman award by the Women’s Business Center, and the Salt Lake City Public Library is the recipient of Library Journal’s prestigious “Library of the Year” award for 2006. |
