City Sightseeing with a visit at “The Old Town”
Sunday 13 June 2004 at 14:00 – 17.45

We leave the hotels by bus and the tour introduces some of the city sights and gives you a first-hand impression of its attractions. We pass the newly restored Cathedral which was commenced in the year 1201 in Romanesque style. In the period 1450-1520 the church was enlarged and transformed into a Gothic cathedral and equipped with an altarpiece, a baptismal font and frescoes. En route we see the Harbour of Aarhus and drive through University campus, where we get a glimpse of the three museums situated here.

We pass Marselisborg Palace, Queen Margrethe II’s summer residence, and if time and weather allows it we take a walk in the park surrounding the palace.

Finally, we arrive at “The Old Town” - an open-air museum with half-timbered houses from all over Denmark. It is Denmark’s National Museum of Urban History, the largest museum in Jutland with unique collections of toys, silver, china, clothes, clocks and watches; with streets and yards, workshops and shops reflecting life from 1600 up to our great-grand-parents’ days.

Coffee and cake are served at Simonsens Have.

At 17.30 the bus leaves for the reception at ARoS, Museum of Art.

A multilingual guide will accompany you on the tour.

Price per person DKK 290,-

The tour is based on a minimum of 30 participants.
