Winnie Vitzansky is an educated librarian and before taking up her position in the library association Winnie Vitzansky was director of the Danish National Library for the Blind.
Winnie Vitzansky has an extensive international experience. She was a volunteer librarian in Tanzania and took up an active participation in IFLA in 1979, becoming chairman of Section of Libraries for the Blind in 1983. Ever since Winnie Vitzansky has been member of IFLA Standing Committees. Now mainly concentrated on Management of Library Association Section as well as IFLA/FAIFE and ALP. She is also actively involved in the work of the European library association, EBLIDA.
Winnie Vitzansky’s main professional focus is on giving all citizens free and equal access to information and culture. In a changing world this requires various transformations in the library services and this process of transformation is dependant on motivated and involved politicians to support (and finance) the changes.
