Circle computer Club is a co-operation project among six local libraries in Aarhus Public Libraries: Risskov, Trige, Hasle, Gellerup, Viby and Højbjerg, all of them placed in different local areas, some of them are small libraries and some of them are larger libraries.
The project commenced in the spring of 2006 and will terminate December 2007.
Circle Computer Clubs intention is to get children at the age of 10-13 years familiar with the recent computer technology through a training program. The children get the opportunity to express themselves in various ways using computer technology.
Furthermore the project has a focus on developing the children’s social competence through co-operation in the local society.
Circle Computer Club emphasizes the network between the collaborators of the project. Besides the six libraries the network includes Multimedia Centre, the local education authority, the IT-guide association, Cyber House, The Animation Workshop, the project “From employee to storyteller”, together with schools and after school centre in the six local areas.
To qualify the library staff and our collaborators Circle Computer Club has invited everybody to attend four different lectures in topics related to children and computer technology.
The children in the Computer Clubs have attended different courses such as “Make a creative self portrait in Adobe Photoshop Elements”, “Build a robot using Lego Mindstorm” and “Create a small animation movie in Stop Motion Pro”.
Circle Computer Clubs are supported by the Danish Library Authority and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation via Access to Learning Award
